Lincoln/Douglas Value Debate
What is
Lincoln-Douglas Value Debate?
In our league, the NCFCA, L-D is value debate, and is different from policy
debate. Policy involves teams of two debaters who analyze issues and propose a
course of action to solve current problems facing our nation. L-D, on the other
hand, is one-on-one debate, and in this league it is concerned with the
underlying philosophical values that guide individuals and nations. Value
debaters use logic and rhetoric to form thoughtful responses to complex issues.
